The new format outlet will open on March 1, following a seven-week transformation.
As well as offering thousands of home improvement products it will boast a You Can Do It centre, where adults and children can learn key DIY skills.
Paid classes on how to hang wallpaper and lay floors will be among the lessons offered.
B&Q store manager Pete Lucas said: “Our store has been over a year in the planning as we aim to bring a world leading home improvement shopping experience to our customers in Poole.
“We’ll be offering a unique product, always at a lower cost, accessible when they need it and we’ll be the first port of call for help and advice.”
The new-look store will include more than 2,000 new products in décor, home furnishings and lighting. There will also be a dozen help and advice kiosks throughout the store.
This new B&Q is one of three in the country to be redesigned because of changes in the home improvement market, including increasing influence from technology, a B&Q spokesman explained.
He added: “The store team is led by store manager Pete Lucas who has been involved in training the new look team to ensure that they are helpful to every customer and up to speed with the new store format.”
A temporary outlet has been operating in the store car park, Fleets Lane, Fleetsbridge, since renovations began.
Mr Lucas said: “We want to inspire our customers to improve their homes and to do that we had to make the shopping experience easier, simpler and more cost effective at the same time as showcasing our product.”
