Bids go out for ‘STEAM Hut’ renovation at Albertville Intermediate School

ALBERTVILLE, Ala. — Bids are now out for companies to renovate the former ‘Scout Hut’ into a ‘STEAM Hut’ where Albertville Intermediate School fifth and sixth graders will learn about Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).

“Obviously, we live in a world today where Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math is the future so we want to give our students every opportunity that they can have to kind of foster those desires early in their ages,” said principal Robert Sims.

The school already has a STEM bus.

“In the STEM bus, we have lab disks. We have Z spaces. We have virtual reality goggles,” said Sims.

Sims said the ‘STEAM Hut’ will add even more space and curriculums for students.

“When kids are engaged, they learn more and adding the music and adding the theater and adding the projects along with the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math hopefully that kind

Appleton Eagle Scout completes major UWO Fox Cities campus community garden renovation

Though it’s near the end of the growing season, a large community garden on the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, Fox Cities campus is shining brightly as 15 years of overgrowth was removed and new fencing installed.

Garden beautification efforts―two years in the making―were led by Eagle Scout candidate Elijah Eisen, 17, a junior at Appleton North High School, along with support from Bill Bultman, an emeritus faculty member and Rose Marie Lewis, senior technician on the UWO Fox Cities campus.

Eisen provided much-needed tender loving care to the area and installed new fencing to keep deer and other animals at bay. The garden plots allow individuals and families in the community to grow their own food and flowers. The previous fencing was missing and broken and allowed deer to feast on the garden “like a buffet,” according to gardeners.

With various delays―not the least included the coronavirus pandemic―Eisen is happy

West End school’s slated renovation sparks memories of neighborhood’s history of gentrification

CINCINNATI — Golan Marom may not be from the West End, but he said feels a connection to the buildings in the neighborhood anyway.

“The architecture and the history of that area, I think, is really, really wonderful,” Marom, the CEO and founder of Zada Development, said. “I think that it’s unique in that it just has its own character to it.”

The developer from New York is fixated on redeveloping the Heberle Elementary School building on Freeman Avenue, a vacant property he acquired about two years ago. Built in 1929, the school has been closed since 2007 because of students’ declining enrollment and poor condition. Some in the neighborhood say the building has been languishing over time as evidenced by its cracked and boarded up windows, and the weeds springing up from the pavement in its front yard. In 2018, it was reported that a part of the building’s

Getting ahead in real estate investments is not just about buying properties – the most strategic move for you may be to improve the value of a property you already own, even your home. If you are happy where you are, renovation can be a sound financial strategy. When you renovate your own home, you win twice – once when you enjoy the benefits of a better home, and once again when you sell the home.

When it comes to resale value, however, not all renovations are created equal.

Let’s look at an example. Suppose you live in a landed property and fancy a hot tub on your back deck, and decide to invest $10,000 or so. Will that add $10,000 to the value of your home? Likely not. The truth is, not everybody
