Judge orders Seminole Commission candidate Pernell Bush to repair damage to home

A judge ordered Seminole County Commission candidate Pernell Bush to move out of the home he shared with his estranged wife and pay for the damages he caused last month when he punched a wall 10 times, apparently in anger over earlier divorce proceedings.

Seminole County Judge Jessica Recksiedler also ordered the Democrat and his estranged wife, Jalyn Isley, to sell their two-story house on Emerald Forest Court near Sanford.

But Bush said Monday that he moved out of the home the day after the Sept. 14 incident and has since been living in Sanford’s Goldsboro community.

His new address is within commission District 5 — the seat he is seeking — which includes Sanford, Heathrow and a portion of Lake Mary. Seminole commissioners are elected countywide, but required to live within the district they represent.

Bush added that he had hired a repair company to fix the damage to the wall before the Sept. 29 court order. He and Isley are in the process of scheduling a date to make the repairs, since he is not allowed back inside the home, according to the judge’s order.

“I left the home because my biggest concern is the safety of all parties involved,” he said.

Bush added that the home is already listed for sale.

Neither Isley nor her attorney could be reached for comment.

Seminole deputies were called to the home after Isley reported that an angry Bush was punching the walls, according to police and court documents. Bush was not arrested because he was not a threat to anyone inside the home, deputies said in a report. Isley was not in the home at the time.

In the Nov. 3 general election, Bush faces Republican Andria Herr and Libertarian Andre Klass.
